About The Reading Bible

The Reading Bible is a free place to read Scripture the way you would read a book. Open it and you see an open book with two pages, no clutter, and no verse numbers unless you want them. Click, tap, or swipe to turn the page.

Why This Exists

I have dyslexia and ADHD. I get distracted easily, and a normal Bible page gives me a lot to look at. Verse numbers, footnotes, page numbers, headers.

Each one takes my attention off the sentence I’m reading, and sometimes it makes me anxious.

Those things are there for good reasons. They help people find a passage and study it, and I’m glad they exist. But when I just want to read, they break my focus.

A chapter heading can make me feel like I’ve started something new, when the story is still going.

The original manuscripts had no chapters or verses. Chapter divisions were added in the Middle Ages, and verse numbers came in the 1500s.

Many of these books began as letters and stories that were read aloud from start to finish. I wanted to read them that way too.

So I built this. It’s a calm page with an open book, and you turn the page to keep going. Verse numbers are there if you want them and off if you don’t.

If reading Scripture has ever felt like work for you, I hope this helps.
